AHC 1113. Art History: Prehistory-1350. (3-0) 3 Credit Hours. (TCCN = ARTS 1303)
A critical and historical study of art and architecture as it developed from Paleolithic times to the 14th century in the various civilizations of Europe, the Near East, and the New World. Course will include selected readings from related fields. May be applied to the Creative Arts Core Curriculum requirements for art and non-art majors. Generally offered: Fall, Spring, Summer. AHC 4113. Contemporary Art. (3-0) 3 Credit Hours.
Prerequisite: 3 semester credit hours of lower-division art history. History, theory, and criticism of the visual arts from 1960 to the present. (Formerly AHC 3113. Credit cannot be earned for both AHC 3113 and AHC 4113.) Generally offered: Fall, Spring, Summer. Course Fees: LRLF $10.27; STLF $18.48.
AHC 4333. Topics in Art History and Criticism. (3-0) 3 Credit Hours.
Prerequisite: 3 semester credit hours of lower-division art history passed with a grade of "C-" or better.
Focus on a specific period, medium, or theoretical and critical issue within the history and criticism of art. May be repeated for credit when topics vary.

AHC 4353. Interdisciplinary Topics in Art History and Criticism. (3-0) 3 Credit Hours.
Prerequisite: AHC 1113 and AHC 1123. Corequisites: ART 3033. Focus on a specific theoretical and critical issue within the history and criticism of art. Must take the corresponding ART 3033- Interdisciplinary Contemporary Studio Topic course. Students must pass both ART 3033 and AHC 4353 in the same topic and term to get credit toward the degree. Past Topics have included: Soundscapes; Between Wilderness and City; Material Meaning; Performing the Body; Objects Re-imagined; Passion, Discomfort, Unrest. May be repeated for up to 6 credits when topics vary.

AHC 4423. Topics in Ancient to Colonial Americas. (3-0) 3 Credit Hours.
Prerequisite: 3 semester credit hours of lower-division art history passed with a grade of “C-” or better. Focus on a specific cultural period, theme, and/or topic related to the arts of Central and/or South America before the 19th century. May be repeated for up to 6 credits towards this section when topics differ. Generally offered: Fall and Spring. Course Fee: LRLF $10.27; STLF $18.48.
AHC 4523. Topics in Latin American Art. (3-0) 3 Credit Hours.
Prerequisite: Prior completion of 3 semester credit hours of lower-division art history, with a grade of “C-” or better. Focuses on a specific cultural period, theme, and/or topic within the arts of Latin America from the late colonial era to the present. May be repeated for up to 6 credits towards this section when topics differ. Generally offered: Fall and Spring. (Formerly AHC 3523. Students cannot receive credit for both AHC 3523 and AHC 4523.). AHC 4913. Independent Study. (0-0) 3 Credit Hours.
Prerequisite: Permission in writing (departmental form available) from the instructor, the student’s advisor, the School Director, and the Dean of the College in which the course is offered. Independent reading, research, discussion and/or critical writing under the direction of a faculty member. May be repeated for credit, but not more than 6 semester credit hours of independent study, regardless of discipline, will apply to a bachelor’s degree. Course Fee: LRLF $10.27; STLF $18.48.
AHC 4933. Art Gallery and Museum Internship. (0-0) 3 Credit Hours.
This course is a supervised experience open to both juniors and seniors. The process of identifying an internship that matches your interests should begin in your junior year at UT San Antonio and requires 150 work hours.
